Job Summary

The Print Operator operates and maintains large‑format digital printers to produce high‑quality signage and graphics. The role includes preparing and managing files, monitoring print quality, ensuring timely completion of jobs, optimizing workflow, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and monitor large‑format digital printers to produce signs and graphics that meet customer specifications and quality standards.
  • Prepare and manage production files, ensuring proper formatting, resolution, and color profiles for printing.
  • Perform color management tasks, including PMS color matching across various substrates.
  • Inspect printed materials for defects, ensuring conformance to specifications, and troubleshoot issues such as banding or color inconsistencies.
  • Operate laminators, cutters, and other finishing equipment to complete printed materials as required.
  • Load and maintain materials, including paper, vinyl, and other substrates, ensuring proper handling and storage.
  • Perform routine maintenance on printers and finishing equipment, including cleaning heads, replacing ink, and calibrating machinery.
  • Maintain accurate records of production activities, including tracking materials and recording job details.
  • Collaborate with designers and production staff to ensure seamless transitions from design to print.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • 1–3 years of experience operating large‑format digital printers in a production environment.
  • Experience in the sign manufacturing or graphics production industry is preferred.
  • Proficiency in digital printing software and tools, including Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and RIP software such as Onyx or Flexi

    SIGN is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of color management, resolution, and media profiles.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform routine printer maintenance.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high‑quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and handle repetitive tasks.
  • Capable of lifting and moving materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in a production environment with noise and occasional exposure to ink and solvents.
  • Certification or training in digital printing, graphic arts, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with additional finishing techniques such as laminating, mounting, or die‑cutting.
  • Knowledge of custom signage production and workflow optimization.
