DescriptionGENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
The Marketing and Advertising Specialist plays a key role in the development and execution of marketing plans to increase ridership and generate revenue for VIA Metropolitan Transit. Working as the primary liaison with VIA’s external advertising and marketing agency ensures that the agency delivers strategic, measurable and high-quality marketing programs that attract riders and enhance VIA’s reputation as the region’s leading transportation provider.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Collaborates with Marketing and other Public Engagement Group team members to coordinate brand awareness and marketing strategies and tactics.
Collaborates with other VIA departments and divisions to develop marketing and advertising programs.
Coordinates efforts with VIA’s advertising agency of record to implement comprehensive marketing campaigns.
Analyzes advertising agency media plans and audits to determine effectiveness of media placement.
Liaises with advertising agency to prepare ongoing marketing performance reports.
Reviews all advertising agency estimates and invoices to ensure accuracy.
Liaises with external vendors or sponsor partners to execute promotional events and campaigns
Assists in planning and executing initiatives to reach the target audience through appropriate channels (social media, e-mail, TV etc.)
Assists in analyzing marketing data and research (campaign results, conversion rates, traffic etc.) to help shape marketing strategies.
Assists in outbound or inbound marketing activities by demonstrating expertise in various areas (content development and optimization,advertising, events planning etc.
Develops weekly marketing activity and department traffic reports.
This job description excludes marginal functions that are incidental to performing the job. Other duties may exist.
REQUIRED
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor’s degree in advertising, marketing, communications, or a related field and a minimum of three years’ experience in the development and execution of promotional and/or advertising campaigns. Experience may be substituted in lieu of education on a year-for-year basis for up to four years.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous advertising agency experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must communicate effectively within and outside the organization.
Must work with little or no direction.
Must oversee and produce various types of printed material and graphic compositions.
Must supervise promotional and/or advertising campaigns executed by advertising agency.
Must procure and supervise appropriate vendors to develop various promotional materials.
Must have exceptional verbal and written communications skills.
Must be able to read, analyze and interpret research data and demographics.
Must be able to maintain good work attendance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Physical ability required to be mobile, bend, stoop, stand, reach, and occasionally lift 5-25 pounds of objects, such as files, equipment and supplies, and books.
WORK ENVIRONMENTS:
Work involves deadlines and multiple priorities.
Works within normal office environment.
Requires some irregular hours and off-property travel.
