Summary
CHRISTUS Children's Hospital in San Antonio is seeking a full-time Pediatric Cardiology Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join the Division of Cardiology at Baylor College of Medicine. The APP will provide advanced clinical care to pediatric cardiology patients under physician supervision. Prior experience in pediatric cardiology is preferred. This position offers a faculty appointment at Baylor College of Medicine, a competitive salary, and a comprehensive benefits package.
Job Duties- Conduct comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations.
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests relevant to the patient's condition.
- Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments.
- Document patient care, including progress notes, orders, and treatment plans.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of medical records.
- Provide follow-up and health maintenance care in accordance with established protocols.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and families regarding care plans.
- Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to identify patients appropriate for care management.
- Perform additional duties assigned within the scope of the license.
For Nurse Practitioner Candidates:
- Master's degree in nursing.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Texas Board of Nursing.
- Licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN-NP) in Texas.
- National certification in the appropriate specialty.
For Physician Assistant Candidates:
- Current PA licensure with the Texas Medical Board.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
For All Candidates:
- Experience working with children with chronic illnesses.
- Knowledge of long-term medications and drug interactions.
- Strong physical assessment and diagnostic skills.
- Experience in patient and family education and care coordination.
- Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
