Registered Nurse-Intermediate (Med Gastro MCC) at UT Health San Antonio.

Provides direct nursing care to patients in a healthcare facility. Responsible for preparing equipment and aiding physician during treatment and examination of patients.

• Demonstrates advanced skills in the delivery of physical examinations of patients, performing complex medical testing and providing physician interpretations of results, consulting with physicians and implementing treatment plans; administers medications and injections as needed.
• Ensures the clinic flow runs smoothly; works closely with assigned scheduler to ensure referrals, follow-up appointments, and diagnostic tests are scheduled accordingly.
• Triages patient calls and works closely with call center team members.
• Follows up on diagnostic tests, labs, and ensures they are reported to the medical provider.
• Refers patients as needed to appropriate specialists as ordered by physician, consults and collaborates with other members of the health care team, schedules follow‑up appointments, weekly check–ups, and procedure appointments.
• Educates patients and family members.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

• Functions within the required nursing process as defined by the Texas Nurse Practice Act.
• Supports the mission, vision, and patient promise throughout all interactions.
• Communicates effectively, written and verbally.
• Analytical thinking – analyzes information and uses logic to coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner.
• Meets all training and competency requirements.

• Current Texas RN license; CPR required.

• Three (3) years of professional nursing experience is required.
