Summary:
The competent Nurse, in the same or similar clinical setting, practices independently and demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Provides routine and complex care, with the ability to focus on long-range goals or plans. Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as a means to help manage the clinical situation.
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Westover Hills provides specialized care and treatment for critically ill or injured patients. Our goal is to provide the highest level of care in an environment designed for patients in serious or life-threatening medical circumstances. The ICU is a dedicated area for patients in critical condition requiring 24-hour supervision.

Competencies:
Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders. - Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients, consistent with ANA standards.
- Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
- Administer medications and treatments using appropriate protocols; monitor for side effects and effectiveness.
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers; identify issues and resources.
Education/
Skills:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
Experience:1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.
Licenses, Registrations, orCertifications:
BLS required, RN License in the state of employment or compact.
Position Requirements :All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire. Completion of all annual competency requirements. Experience in Critical Care setting preferred but new graduates are accepted.
Current ACLS certification required.
Credentialing and Certification Grace Periods:Details vary for different credentials and experience levels, with specific time frames for obtaining certifications post-hire.
