About the Position

Job Opportunity – Level III/IV NICU RN – Texas

Start Date: November 2, 2026

Location: Lubbock, Texas

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Self-scheduling with block schedules; 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period; variable shifts; floating between units as needed. 48-hour shifts approved. Must commit to working 3 of 5 major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day).

Highlights:
  • Level IV NICU in a 181-bed Children's Hospital and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center
  • Patient ratios of 1:2-4 with average daily census of 35 patients in a 43-bed unit
  • Epic EMR system with 12-hour orientation
  • Case mix includes prematurity, respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, sepsis, surgical subspecialties (excluding cardiac), and HIE
  • Contract extensions beyond 13 weeks available for interested candidates
  • Free parking provided; bike racks available
Requirements:
  • Active Compact RN license (must be in hand at submission)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent NICU experience required
  • Level III NICU experience strongly preferred for this Level IV unit
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications required
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Proficiency in advanced NICU skills including high-frequency ventilation, NICU IV level care, therapeutic hypothermia, administration of blood products, nitric oxide, UAC/UVC management, and ventilator management
  • Experience with neonatal populations including micro-preemies (under 29 weeks) through full-term infants
  • Willingness to float to Pediatrics, PICU, or Pediatric ED as needed
  • Two professional references covering one year of experience within the last three years
