American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a surgical unit night shift position requiring 2+ years of recent Med/Surg experience and an active TX or compact RN license.

• Surgical unit in a hospital setting with 40 beds
• Patient population includes surgical and trauma patients with large wounds
• Patient ratio of 1:5 or 1:6
• Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required as needed per facility policy
• Uses Meditech documentation system
• Unit staffed with 1 unit coordinator on days and 2-3 PCAs per shift

• Active TX or compact RN license required (temporary licenses not accepted)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical RN experience required
• Experience with IV peripheral starts and care, and central line care
• Experience managing tubes and drains including NG, JP, and chest tubes
• Ostomy care experience required
• Foley catheter insertion and care experience required
• Meditech charting experience preferred
• Tracheostomy care experience preferred
• Wound vac and large dressing change experience preferred
• 3-way bladder irrigation experience preferred
• No gaps in work history exceeding 90 days within the past 12 months

• Provide comprehensive surgical and trauma patient care including wound management and ostomy care
• Utilize patient communication boards for teaching and explaining care to patients
• Must comply with unit dress code including navy scrub top and pant with navy or white scrub jacket
• Nail policy prohibits acrylics, polish longer than 1/4 inch, chipped polish, and requires clean nails
• Hair must be worn off shoulders and in natural color
• Visible body art should be covered whenever possible
• Visible piercings other than ear piercings are prohibited
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility as local candidates are not accepted
• First-time travelers may be considered
