Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) – Urgent Care

Location: San Antonio, TX 78244
Additional Location: Schertz, TX
Pay Rate: $37.17 per hour
Schedule: 65 hours biweekly
Training: 3 weeks of initial training and orientation

Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to support a busy, patient-facing outpatient clinic in the San Antonio area. In this role, you will provide direct clinical care, assist with patient assessments, administer medications and vaccines, perform point-of-care testing, and maintain accurate electronic medical records.

The ideal candidate has experience in primary care, urgent care, or an emergency room and is comfortable working in a fast-paced outpatient clinical environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine patient assessments and monitor vital signs.
• Administer medications and treatments within the authorized scope of practice.
• Administer vaccines and perform phlebotomy and point-of-care testing.
• Document patient histories, medications, allergies, assessments, and treatment responses in an electronic medical record system.
• Monitor patient conditions and identify abnormalities requiring additional clinical attention.
• Assist with medication reviews and identify potential side effects or interactions.
• Support patient education related to medications, self-care, disease management, and available healthcare resources.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to support quality patient care.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked clinical environment.

Required Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted LVN license in good standing, with no current or prior disciplinary actions.
• At least one year of related healthcare experience.
• Previous experience in primary care, urgent care, or an emergency room.
• Experience with phlebotomy, vaccine administration, and point-of-care testing.
• Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Verifiable high school diploma or GED.

Preferred: Experience using Epic EMR.

Candidates whose experience is limited to long-term care, nursing homes, home health, long-term acute care, or skilled nursing facilities may not be a fit for this outpatient clinical role.

Schedule and Training

• Approximately 65 hours every two weeks.
• Shifts generally range from 7–10 hours within clinic operating hours.
• Typical schedule includes two or three weekdays and every other weekend.
• Availability to work some major holidays is required.
• Three weeks of initial training and orientation.
• Schedules are created in six-week blocks following training.
• Floating between the San Antonio and Schertz clinic locations is required as needed.

Location Details

The primary location is in San Antonio, TX 78244. Floating to the additional clinic at 2693 FM 3009, Schertz, TX, is required as needed.

Compensation

$37.17 per hour.
