This role is part of the Pharmacy Customer Service team that delivers a distinctive and delightful customer experience. You’ll assist the pharmacist and provide excellent service at the register.

Base Pay Range

$16.00/hr - $18.00/hr

Responsibilities
  • Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
  • Register sales at the assigned cash register, providing courteous, fair, friendly, and efficient checkout service.
  • Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy; enter patient and drug information into pharmacy systems, process prescriptions, and verify medication accuracy.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services, resolving issues and answering questions to ensure a positive experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with all team members, including interpersonal habits such as greeting, eye contact, courtesy, and Walgreens service traits (e.g., proactive help, identifying needs, servicing until satisfied).
  • Provide courteous, friendly, fast, and efficient service throughout the store.
  • Recommend items for sale and trade‑up or companion items.
  • Take customers to the OTC aisle when possible to assist in locating products.
  • Maintain counters and shelves clean, well merchandised, and take inventory as directed.
  • Give accurate cash handling, collect cash, distribute change, process voids, returns, rain checks, refunds, and exchanges.
  • Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, or Store Manager, including pharmacist assistance, scheduling, workflow support, and quality improvement compliance.
  • Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies and the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
  • Adhere strictly to Good Faith Dispensing policies during all prescription dispensing activities.
  • Handle telephone calls that do not require pharmacist attention, including physician calls.
  • Process and resubmit manual claims for third‑party prescription services efficiently.
  • Assist and support inventory management activities in the pharmacy department (ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipment of pharmaceuticals).
  • Maintain knowledge of company asset protection techniques and file claims for warehouse overages, shortages, or damaged goods involving prescription drugs.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products such as alcoholic beverages and tobacco.
  • Construct and maintain displays, including promotional, seasonal, and sale merchandise; perform resets and revisions as directed.
  • Assist with separation and placement of food items (e.g., keeping raw meats on bottom shelves) and enforce first‑in, first‑out stock rotation.
  • Possess working knowledge of store systems and equipment.
  • Provide customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo, poster print, and creative machine services.
  • Assume web pick‑up responsibilities (monitoring orders, picking items, delivering to customers in store).
  • Assist with exterior and interior maintenance to ensure clean, neat, orderly store condition.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures; maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
  • Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state‑required certification/registration.
  • Attend training and complete provider‑requested learning (e.g., PPLs), maintain continuing education credits, and keep knowledge updated in healthcare and pharmacy.
Basic Qualifications
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Previous work experience with Walgreens.
  • Strong math skills for accurate prescription filling (counting, measuring, weighing).
  • Good computer skills.
  • Knowledge of store inventory control.
  • PTCB certification.
