The Role

Quality Assurance (QA) Technicians play a vital role in ensuring the safety and quality of all raw materials and finished products processed at the plant. QA Technicians are expected to follow all company policies, standard operating procedures, and customer specifications.

As a QA Technician, you will work under the direction of the QA Supervisor to verify that all products meet or exceed regulatory, company, and customer requirements related to food safety and quality. You will serve as a key resource in promoting adherence to food safety standards and ensuring compliance with all regulatory guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Promote a positive, collaborative work environment across departments
  • Partner with plant personnel to enhance product quality and safety
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, GMPs, HACCP, SQF, allergen/sensitizer protocols, and other regulations
  • Support data collection and recordkeeping for HACCP and control points (e.g., cook/chill temperatures, processing logs)
  • Monitor processing activities including cooking, chilling, and equipment inspections
  • Conduct pre-operational and routine equipment inspections to maintain quality and compliance
  • Perform product audits and testing to verify adherence to quality standards and HACCP plans
  • Communicate quality and food safety concerns promptly to QA Supervisor or Production Manager
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and obtain supervisor signatures
  • Identify non-conforming products and place them in designated rework areas
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, ensuring floors are free from debris
  • Follow and communicate all safety protocols and manufacturing practices
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned
Skills
  • Proficiency in using basic lab equipment and scales
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to draft reports and interpret SOPs and technical documents
  • Math proficiency in averages, percentages, ratios, and basic calculations
  • Critical thinking skills: ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions
  • Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively, adapt to change, and perform under pressure
  • Demonstrated initiative and accountability
  • Builds respectful, trust‑based relationships across the organization
  • Must be physically able to:
    • Stand and walk for extended periods
    • Reach, lift (up to 50 lbs.), bend, kneel, crouch, and stretch
    • Work in cold and wet environments
    • Use hands and arms, speak and hear clearly, and possess full visual acuity
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent – At least 18 years old and a valid driver’s license
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in Quality Assurance in Food Manufacturing
  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience (preferred)
  • Bilingual – English/Spanish a plus
  • Basic math skills and functional English literacy
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office 365
Pay

Pay: Starting hourly rate $16.00 and dependent on experience
