Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:Plans, directs, and coordinates project and site quality assurance and quality control activities to ensure compliance with the CCC Quality Manual, approved project quality plans, contract requirements, engineering documents, applicable codes and standards, owner requirements, and jurisdictional requirements. Provides leadership for inspection, testing, documentation, auditing, nonconformance control, turnover, and continuous improvement. Has authority, within the approved quality program and assigned scope, to accept or reject work and to stop or place work on hold when quality requirements are not satisfied.
Leads the implementation and consistent application of the Quality Management System for one large project, multiple medium projects, or an assigned region. Supports ASME and National Board quality programs, including NBIC R-Stamp repair activities, when applicable.
A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible quality control, welding, inspection, or industrial construction experience encompassing field and/or shop environments and multiple construction disciplines. A minimum of three (3) years of quality leadership or supervisory experience is preferred.
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification is required when the assigned scope includes primary responsibility for welding quality control. Additional certifications related to the assigned scope, such as ACI, ASNT/NDE, API, coatings, bolting, boiler, pressure vessel, or other discipline-specific credentials, are preferred or may be required by the project. Demonstrated experience developing and implementing project quality plans, ITPs, inspection systems, audits, nonconformance controls, and turnover documentation is required.
Experience supporting ASME and National Board quality programs, including NBIC R-Stamp repair activities, is required when assigned responsibility for Code work.
- Work with senior-level QA/QC Specialist to learn how to perform QA/QC inspections and prepare required records/reports in compliance with requirements.
- Perform inspections and audits to ensure compliance with QA/QC requirements and system verification.
- Learn QA/QC Program and applicable codes for discipline assigned.
- Support conducting weld tests for current and potential employees, utilizing various procedures, metals, positions, etc.
- Instruct employees in proper use of procedures, materials, tools, etc. for welding purposes.
- Determine and ensure correct processes are in use per engineering specs as well as Company and owner requirements.
- Document and track company welder testing and certifications as well as site weld maps.
- Analyze and interpret blueprints, manuals, and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures.
- Monitor operations to ensure conformance to specifications and order necessary materials.
- Ensure all QA/QC procedures are followed during processes and tasks under QA/QC direction.
- May perform general administrative and recordkeeping duties for the department.
- Attend and participate in initial orientation and ongoing job-specific QA/QC training including but not limited to: project-specific processes, procedures, documents, and company Quality Management System (QMS) and objectives
COMPETENCIES:
- Knowledge of metal properties, welding processes, testing procedures, and tolerances is required.
- Understanding of basic math and print interpretation.
- Must be able to write effectively.
- Proficiency with standard office software.
- Ability to develop QA/QC procedures, work practices, and training programs.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Good communication skills, both written and oral.
