The CMM Programmer / Metrology Quality Technician is responsible for programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and conducting comprehensive metrology inspections to support supplier and customer requirements. This role ensures accurate inspection, quality compliance, and supports new product development while collaborating closely with engineering, supplier quality, and manufacturing teams.
Key Job Elements- Program and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
- Conduct Metrology Lab Inspections including Incoming Inspection, First Article Inspection, Supplier PPAP, Customer PPAP, and Special Inspections.
- Maintain and update Incoming Inspection tracking dashboards and control plans.
- Assist Supplier Quality Engineers in aligning supplier measurement strategies with CMM programming and inspection processes.
- Support Engineering with New Product Development (NPD) activities.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in quality metrology inspection.
- Proficiency in CMM programming and operation; PC-DMIS (Hexagon) or Calypso (Zeiss) preferred.
- Ability to read mechanical engineering drawings and interpret GD&T.
- Experience with First Article Inspection (FAI), incoming inspection sampling, and capability studies using Minitab/SPC XL.
- Strong communication skills with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to use precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, profilometer, gauges, etc.).
- Knowledge of AIAG PPAP process preferred.
- Experience supporting ISO audits.
- Mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
