General Purpose

As an Area Supervisor, you are a member of Store Leadership responsible for a specific area of the store and for overall store operations when serving as Manager on Duty. Key duties include opening and closing the store, supervising associates, ensuring a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment, maintaining merchandise presentation, and ensuring cleanliness and safety.

Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
  • Practice safe behaviors and make safety the number one priority.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor, promptly correcting or reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Secure the building including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, cash office security, armored carrier pick‑ups, and register area.
  • Remove clutter and ensure clear egress to emergency exits.
  • Ensure customer safety through accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures.
  • Test fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
Customer Service
  • Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times, recognizing associates via company programs.
Personal and Store Brand
  • Represent and support the company brand at all times.
  • Maintain a professional appearance per the dress code and ensure associates do the same.
  • Keep all store areas clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.
  • Handle daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
  • Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet company standards through teaching, assigning tasks, and follow‑up.
  • Assist with receiving merchandise trucks when needed, process all merchandise with urgency, and handle non‑merchandise inbound deliveries.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all stockrooms; deliver and place merchandise on the floor promptly.
  • Secure back‑stock, support department merchandising, reduce loss from damage, comply with presentation guidelines, and execute floor moves and promotional sign‑ing.
  • Re‑wrap items as required.
Loss Prevention
  • Understand and comply with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program, maintaining a strong customer service presence.
  • Demonstrate integrity and honesty, safeguarding confidential, cash, and merchandise information.
  • Maintain the Public View Monitor system and conduct “Code 50” package inspections.
  • Execute company best practices to maximize productivity while minimizing steps and touches.
Front End Supervision and Operations
  • Ensure associates execute company standards at the front end, maintaining pace, energy, and presence.
  • Train and coach associates on cash registers, shortage control, and other front‑end procedures.
  • Control associate break schedules for backups, lunch, and breaks.
  • Maintain equipment, supplies, and recovery for the front end.
  • Ensure go‑backs are expedited, scanned, security‑tagged, and ticketed.
  • Teach the “Scan & Bag” practice.
  • Ensure shelf‑levelability of merchandise and support specialty racks.
Fitting Rooms
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper maintenance of fitting rooms.
  • Audit and account for fitting‑room garment tags.
  • Comply with go‑back procedures throughout the day.
Administrative Duties as Assigned by Store Manager
