Overview
We are looking for a skilled Carpenter to join Layton Construction. This role focuses on professional carpentry and finish carpentry for our healthcare construction projects.
Responsibilities- Champions ‘The Layton Way’ by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.
- Ensures that ‘Constructing with Integrity’ is delivered by working with honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work.
- Frames metal studs and installs drywall.
- Installs architectural finishes according to specifications and plans when required.
- Maintains a clean and safe job site to ICRA and Company standards.
- Reads blueprints to determine measurements, sizes, locations, types of walls, footings, floors, finishes, etc.
- Utilizes carpentry math to calculate measurements required to construct facilities.
- Applies knowledge of wood and metal finishes (Finish Carpentry).
- Determines elevations and layout using builder levels, transits, lasers, etc.
- Interacts with facilities and subcontractors in a professional manner.
- Forms and pours footings and walls, shores decks, and edges for slabs.
- Installs architectural finishes according to specifications and plans when required.
- Reads blueprints to determine measurements, sizes, locations, types of walls, footings, floors, etc.
- Applies knowledge of concrete and its properties.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferably 2+ years prior general carpentry experience.
- Performs essential duties and responsibilities efficiently, accurately, and safely with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of hospital construction variables in situations where exact standardization exists.
- Owns the tools required of the Carpenter position.
- Understands and conveys basic English commands, questions, and instructions regarding commercial construction.
- Commits to and meets all scheduled attendance and production deadlines.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Exerts in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
- Ascends or descends ladders, scaffolding, and steep slopes with agility.
- Maintains body equilibrium to prevent falling from precarious situations.
- Lowers the body to floor level and moves about with agility.
- Extends out and retrieves objects outside immediate range.
- Supports oneself and stays in an upright position.
- Presses against something with substantial steady force to thrust forward, downward, or outward.
- Exerts a considerable force to draw, drag, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion.
- Raises substantial objects from a lower to a higher position or moves objects horizontally from position to position.
- Maneuvers small objects precisely by whatever means.
- Seizes an object by applying considerable force.
- Detects attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature, texture, tension, or force by tactile means.
- Expresses or exchanges ideas by means of spoken work.
- Perceives the nature of sounds with no less than a 40db loss at 500 Hz, 1,000 Hz, and 2,000 Hz with or without correction.
- Is subject to substantial repetitive motions of the body or its parts.
- Must have good depth perception, field of vision, near acuity.
- Frequently exposed to weather; occasionally to extreme cold, extreme heat, wet and/or humid, exposure to dust and fumes, and working in high exposed places.
