Position Summary:

The Pipelayer is a skilled position involved in the construction, maintenance, and repair of underground systems.

Essential Functions:
  • Work safely while performing new construction, maintenance, or repair of underground work.
  • Possess a working knowledge of all aspects of underground distribution.
  • Operate and maintain company equipment, e.g., Backhoe.
  • Properly install and remove PPE and cover up.
  • Understand underground services, infrastructure, and duct banks.
  • Maintain a safety-first mentality and wear personal protective equipment.
  • Keep the shop and yard areas organized and clean.
  • Clean trucks, equipment, and tools.
  • Promote safety practices consistently.
  • Perform other related work as required to complete the job.
  • Minimum Requirements:
  • 1-3 years of experience preferred.
  • Able to perform rigorous physical labor.
  • Able to travel long distances on short notice, when required.
  • Possess a Driver License for at least 5 years in Texas; CDL preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrate safe driving techniques.
  • Able to lift over 50 lbs.
  • Work outside frequently in inclement weather.
  • Willing to work overtime when requested.
  • Use hand tools on a continuous basis.
  • Be exposed to dirt and power tools daily.
  • Knowledge of underground utility locates is a plus.
  • Identify obstacles that could hinder safety or production.
  • Work in various locations for extended periods when required.
  • Physical Demands:

    Must be able to talk, hear, stand, walk, handle, feel, and reach with hands and arms regularly.

    Work Environment:

    Frequently exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. Occasionally exposed to extreme conditions. Work is performed outdoors in various weather conditions, often in loud environments.
