JOB SUMMARYThe Maintenance Mechanic
- Treatmentisresponsibleforthebasicmaintenanceand repairof equipment and facilities. This position will supportmultiplefacilitieswithvarying processes,equipment and functional requirements.
- Diagnose sand resolves standard waterorwastewaterfacilitymachinery,piping and equipment problems.
- Performs predictive,preventative and correctivemaintenanceduties.
- Tracks and records information required in work order documents andentersinto computerized maintenancemanagementsystem(CMMS),and uses
Microsoft
Office. - Performs standard level diagnosticteststoresolveroutineproblems.
- Repairsplantmachineryandequipment,using hoists,jacks,ladders,confinedspaceequipment,PPE, welding equipment,hand tools,squares,rules,micrometers,and other tools.
- Dismantles,construct sand assemblesvariouscomponentsof facilities,industrial machineryor equipment.
- Performs confined spaceentriesin hazardous environments.
- Monitorsmechanicalequipmentand makesfunctionaladjustments.
- Cleansand lubricatesmachineryand equipment according to specifications.
- Identifiespartswithspecificationsand orders replacements.
- Furnishes mechanical recommendation when ordering newparts,machinery and equipment.
- Hasknowledgeof basic electrical and instrumentation principles.
- Promote sand practicesasafeworkingenvironmentin an industrial setting.
- Appliesbasicprinciplesofmechanicalmaintenance.
- Performsworkin accordance with TCEQ,OSHA,and other applicablegovernmentregulations.
- ReadsO&Mmanuals,as-built drawings,blockmaps,schematics,and construction plans.
- Establishesandmaintainseffectiveworking relationship and public relations.
- Mayoperateaforklift,poweredverticalliftingmachinery,utility truck,crane,combination unit,water tanker,orotherheavyequipment.
- Performsotherdutiesasassigned.
- Receives general supervision.
- May refer more complex issues to higher levels.
- May act as a team leader.
- Graduation from high school or a General Education Development (GED) Certificate.
- Two years’ experience performing repairs and maintenance in the mechanical trade.
- Ability to report to work on time, maintain a good attendance record, and work all designated work schedules.
- Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.
- Class "C" Texas Wastewater Operator License.
- Skill in applying basic math and measurement principles.
- Skill in utilizing a personal computer and associated software programs.
- Skill in proficient use of materials, tools, and equipment commonly used in mechanical maintenance or repair of industrial facilities.
- Ability to complete required SAWS coordinated training after hire on Confined space, HAZMAT Awareness, Lock Out Tag Out, Supervising for Safety, Fit Testing, Electrical Safety, and other certifications as required.
- Ability to enter and maintain information in the computerized maintenance management system.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers, contractors and vendors.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and pushing/pulling a maximum force of 105 pounds. Subject to standing, sitting, walking, climbing, bending, crawling, squatting, kneeling and working in cramped and strained positions for extended periods of time to perform job scope. Subject to climbing up to 200 feet in height.
Working conditions are primarily outside with frequent exposure to inclement weather; wastewater; mechanical, electrical, chemical and confined space hazards; offensive fumes; excessive noise; heavy traffic; deep excavations; and animals, snakes and poisonous insects. May be required to comply with requirements as specified in applicable regulations for personal protective equipment, including clearance for use of respiratory protection and other associated protective equipment, including clearance for use of respiratory protection and other associated protective equipment.
Operates company vehicle on a daily basis.
May be required to work hours other than regular daytime schedules such as shift work, nights, weekends and holidays.
