Monday - Friday 6:45 am to Finish

Compensation:
Depending On Experience ($20 to $28)

The Welder is responsible for joining, fabricating, and repairing metal components and structures using various welding processes for commercial, industrial, and construction projects. This position supports operations locally in San Antonio and, when required, on out-of-state or regional project assignments while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and structural integrity.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, schematics, shop drawings, and job specifications
• Perform various welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux-Cored) on steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other alloys
• Setup, operate, and maintain welding equipment, plasma cutters, torch cutting equipment, and power tools
• Prepare metal surfaces for welding by cleaning, grinding, flame-cutting, beveling, and fitting joints
• Clamp, tack-weld, and position metal components prior to final welding to ensure precise alignment and tolerances
• Inspect completed welds for structural integrity, quality, and adherence to AWS codes and project standards
• Ensure compliance with applicable mechanical codes, project specifications, and quality standards
• Perform minor troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on welding machinery and tools
• Follow safety policies, wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), and adhere to OSHA regulations at all job sites
• Coordinate work with shop supervisors, project managers, fitters, and other trades
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe, clean, and organized condition
• Travel to job sites as required (local, regional, or field locations)
• Complete work assignments within scheduled timelines

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of professional welding and metal fabrication experience
• Strong proficiency in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding processes
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and AWS weld symbols
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, grinders, and metal cutting equipment
• Strong understanding of metallurgy, joint prep, and job-site safety requirements
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS (American Welding Society) Certification or equivalent structural welding certifications
• Experience in structural steel fabrication, pipe welding, or heavy industrial projects
• Experience with flux-cored arc welding (FCAW) and specialized alloy welding
• Ability to read both imperial and metric measurements
• Valid passport or ability to obtain one if required for out-of-state assignments

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in tight or confined spaces
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, high-heat environments, and heavy dust/fume areas
