Academic RequirementsRequired – Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field;
Preferable – Master’s degree in social work or related field.
- First aid
- CPR
- Emergency behavior intervention
Required – Two (2) or more years working with children who have mental health or behavioral disabilities in a residential setting and two (2) or more years of child placing experience.
Critical Action Items & Measurable Deliverables- Meet all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards applicable to this position.
- Maintain a case load in accordance with agency policies and procedures and contract standards.
- Train and evaluate foster parents to ensure adequate skill and motivation to implement the agency behavior management model.
- Provide ongoing & regular face‑to‑face supervision of foster parents according to program requirements.
- Maintain accurate and current foster care records.
- Intervene in crisis situations involving foster children or families.
- Provide pre‑service and in‑service training to foster parents as necessary.
- Prepare daily census and department reports as assigned.
- Maintain effective working relationships between foster parents, other agency staff, Child Protective Services, Department of Children’s Services, judicial officials, legal resources, medical professionals, and other community resources.
- Participate in on‑call duties and responsibilities.
- Work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed or requested by position supervisor.
- Implement Compass Connections safety protocols, including evacuating with children and other staff in case of an emergency.
- Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the service population and program operations.
- Maintain Compass Connections professional & ethical standards of conduct as outlined in the employee handbook, including demonstrating respect for agency staff, the service population, and community members and complying with required dress code at all times.
- Support, encourage, and recruit foster parents.
- Recruit and assess foster home applicants to recommend verification as an agency foster home.
- Monitor verified foster homes for ongoing compliance with agency policies and procedure, state and federal standards.
- Frequently travel from one location to another.
- Meet all deadlines required by program supervisor and federal partners.
- Pass a pre‑employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment.
- Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.
- Pass a pre‑employment and biennial criminal background checks.
- Demonstrate the ability to:
- Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio‑economic characteristics.
- Work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers and professionals.
- Provide crisis intervention according to training provided by Compass Connections when needed to maintain a safe environment.
- Work in a fast‑paced environment and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times.
- Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position.
- Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of all Compass Connections policies and procedures.
