Software Engineer – Pearson
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Full Stack Software Engineer for Pearson’s Q‑global product. The ideal candidate will develop new features for Q‑global and migrate the current platform to its new version. This multi‑year project holds enormous strategic value and high revenue growth.
Hybrid position in San Antonio, TX. Work with a distributed development team across the US, Europe, and Asia in a collaborative, casual, flexible, agile, and results‑driven environment. High‑quality performance is required to meet customer expectations for a mission‑critical service.
ResponsibilitiesThe Full‑Stack Engineer will:
- Analyze, design, implement, and unit‑test code to support cutting‑edge assessment technology platforms.
- Implement designs following Pearson coding standards and industry best practices.
- Ensure business and requirements artifacts are created that effectively model the customer’s requirements, using tooling and best practices.
- Work closely with QA, configuration management, and end users to release high‑quality software and write and execute unit tests.
- Hands‑on experience as a full‑stack engineer with Java, Spring Framework, Angular Framework, JavaScript/Type Script, HTML, CSS, Postgres, Mongo
DB. - Experience with Cloud AWS‑hosted applications.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent technology discipline.
- Experience building SaaS applications.
- Experience with development, maintenance, and testing of software following industry best practices.
- Experience with highly available, highly concurrent web‑based applications.
- Experience with GIT or similar VCS tools.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.
- Experience working in an agile environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
- 3 to 6 years of relevant project experience.
- Desire to expand knowledge in multiple development languages, applications, and tools.
- Quickly learn new processes, tools, business domains, and technical applications.
- Strong technical and analytical thinking.
- Understanding of architectural philosophy.
- Strong time‑management skills and ability to meet established timelines.
- Self‑starter, detail‑oriented, effective written and verbal communication.
- Team‑player.
- Experience with Data Science using Python.
- Experience building AI solutions using AWS Bedrock.
