About
The Role
Rex.zone is hiring for a remote, full-time Mining Robotics engineering role focused on designing, deploying, and maintaining autonomous and teleoperated robotic systems used in modern mine operations. You will support production-grade autonomy stacks across perception, SLAM, motion planning, controls, safety monitoring, and operational integration.
What You Will Do- Build and maintain robotics software modules for mining autonomy using ROS/ROS2 patterns, message interfaces, and node lifecycle best practices
- Develop perception and sensor fusion pipelines for harsh mine conditions (dust, vibration, low light), including calibration and synchronization
- Implement and tune SLAM, localization, and navigation components for off-road environments with sparse features
- Design motion planning and control strategies for autonomous or supervised operation, including failsafes and degraded-mode behavior
- Create simulation scenarios and test harnesses to validate autonomy behavior before field rollout
- Integrate robotic systems with telemetry, fleet management, and safety monitoring signals to support operational readiness
- Support field commissioning, log analysis, incident triage, and reliability improvements using structured root-cause analysis
- Write clear engineering documentation, interface contracts, and test plans to enable cross-team delivery
- Mid-Senior experience delivering robotics or autonomy software in production or field-tested environments
- Strong robotics fundamentals: coordinate frames, kinematics, estimation, control, and navigation
- Hands-on experience with ROS/ROS2, Linux, and distributed robotics system debugging
- Experience with camera/LiDAR perception stacks, computer vision, or point cloud processing
- Practical knowledge of SLAM/localization approaches (e.g., EKF-based fusion, graph optimization concepts)
- Comfort working with logs, bag files, replay pipelines, metrics dashboards, and reproducible experiments
- Ability to collaborate remotely across time zones with actionable design docs and implementation plans
This role is Remote
. Occasional travel may be requested depending on project needs and field validation windows.
Competitive hourly base pay: $30-50 per hour
. Final compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and scope.
