Position SummarySt. Anthony Catholic High School, a private college preparatory high school for young men and women, seeks an Assistant Girls’ Basketball Coach. This seasonal part‑time position assists the Head Coach in developing the Girls’ Basketball team into a competitive program, aligning with the school’s Core Values of Honesty & Integrity, Community, Service & Social Justice, Scholarship, and Holistic Education. The Assistant coach reports to the Athletic Director.

Job Duties- Assist the head coach with instruction on rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques.
- Organize and direct individual and small‑group practice activities as directed.
- Assess player skills, monitor performance during competition and practice, and inform the head coach.
- Assist with game strategy development.
- Supervise athletes during practices and competition.
- Attend all practices and games throughout the season; game attendance may require travel.
- Follow established injury procedures.
- Model sportsmanship and maintain conduct toward players, officials, and spectators.
- Follow TAPPS guidelines and rules.
- Participate in special events such as senior night, athletic banquet, and pep rallies.
- Work with the head coach on eligibility, inventory, and related paperwork.
- Attend staff meetings, clinics, and other professional development activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Possess effective coaching techniques and skills.
- Thorough knowledge of rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of basketball.
- Strong communication skills; remain professional under all circumstances with students, parents, staff, and opposing teams.
- Consistently follow the mission of St. Anthony Catholic High School.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.
- Work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Required Work ExperienceTwo (2) years of girls’ assistant/head basketball coaching experience at the high school level OR two (2) years of AAU coaching experience at U16 level or higher. High school or collegiate playing experience may be considered in lieu of experience.
Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree.
- UIL & TAPPS experience at HS level.
- CPR certified or obtain certification within 15 days of hire.
- First Aid certified or obtain certification within 15 days of hire.
- Regular practice hours Mon‑Fri after school (school days only) from 3:30‑5:30 pm.
- All games, both weekday and weekend, mandatory.
- Special activity mandatory attendance (senior night, banquet, parents’ night, pep rallies).
- Lift sports equipment up to 50 lbs waist‑high.
- Move to demonstrate drills during practice and on sidelines during games.
- Engage in games and events for extended periods.
- Move around campus and event venues to engage faculty, staff, parents, and students.

This is a seasonal part‑time coaching position beginning in September 2025 through the standard end of season October/November 2025 based on team performance.
