Incarnate Word High School, a Catholic all‑girls school sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, seeks a Part‑Time Head Volleyball Coach for the 2026‑2027 school year. The role supports the school’s mission by promoting athletic excellence, leadership, and Catholic‑centered values through competitive athletics. The Head Volleyball Coach reports directly to the school’s Athletic Director.

• Develop and implement a comprehensive volleyball program that promotes athletic excellence, teamwork, and sportsmanship while reflecting the values of the Catholic faith.
• Cultivate a positive and supportive team culture that encourages each athlete to reach their full potential, builds resilience, and nurtures a love for the sport.
• Foster a sense of community and camaraderie among team members while promoting the values of compassion, kindness, and service to others.
• Provide expert coaching, guidance, and mentorship to help athletes improve their performance, develop their skills, and achieve their goals.
• Collaborate with school administrators, faculty, and staff to ensure alignment with the school’s mission and values.
• Represent the school and athletic program in a professional and respectful manner, both on and off campus.

• Adhere to all policies and procedures of IWHS.
• Hold organizational meetings for team prospects and encourage potential athletes to participate.
• Assess students’ skills and assign team positions.
• Develop a regular practice schedule and organize practice time for both individual and team development.
• Work with the Athletic Director on scheduling games, facilities, and transportation.
• Supervise student‑athletes during games and travel.
• Promote a safe and positive athletic environment.
• Assign duties to assistant coaching staff as necessary.
• Coach and instruct students on rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques.
• Observe athletes during competition and practice to determine needs for improvement.
• Determine game strategy based on team capabilities.
• Maintain standards for behavior and provide proper supervision.
• Monitor academic performances to ensure eligibility requirements are met and encourage high standards.
• Follow established procedures for injuries.
• Communicate with parents/guardians regarding academic, behavioral, or athletic performance.
• Adhere to TAPPS regulations and IWHS policies.
• Promote the volleyball program and represent the team.
• Ensure proper care, maintenance, and requisitioning of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
• Participate in special activities (parents’ night, banquets, awards night, pep assemblies).
• Assist with equipment inventory and related paperwork.
• Collaborate with the Advancement office to promote IWHS and volleyball to prospective middle‑school students.
• Attend athletic meetings, clinics, and professional development activities.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field (e.g., physical education, sports management).
• Minimum 3‑5 years of high school or higher‑level coaching experience.
• Effective coaching techniques and skills.
• Thorough knowledge of volleyball rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, parents, and students.
• Understanding of the mission of the Sisters of Charity and Incarnate Word High School.
• Successful completion of VIRTUS and background check.
