Responsibilities
  • Eligibility & Ethical Standards:
    The candidate shall not participate as a coach or team manager within the same age group of the sport they are officiating. The candidate must not be closely related to any participant in the sport they officiate. If such a relationship exists, the candidate is required to disclose it immediately, and a second official will assume head official duties for that game.
  • Pre-Season Expectations:
    Attend a pre-season meeting with the Youth Sports & Fitness Director or Assistant Director at least 30 days before the start of the season to review sport-specific rules and By-Laws. Confirm game schedules (date, time, and location) with the authorized government POC no less than two calendar days before each assigned game.
  • Game-Day Duties:
    Arrive 15 minutes before game time in the proper uniform and with all required equipment. Assume full authority over the conduct of the game, ensure sportsmanship, enforce rules, and maintain safe play. Eject players, coaches, or spectators for unsportsmanlike behavior. Cancel or postpone games due to misconduct, lateness, or inclement weather, with coordination from Youth Program staff when present. Turn on/off field lights for outdoor games if staff is not on site.

    Collect and return all required game equipment when pre-coordinated with Youth Program staff.
  • Reporting & Documentation:
    Report all injuries to Youth Sports & Fitness leadership by 08:00 the next duty day. Submit score sheets by 1000 the next day if Youth Program staff were not on site. Report any ejections, protests, or incidents in writing by 08:00 the next duty day. Sign score sheets after each game and ensure at least one coach also signs to verify coverage compliance.
  • Coverage and Coordination:
    Ensure full officiating coverage for all scheduled games. In the event of absence, remaining officials shall continue the game until relief arrives. Be present for at least half the game to qualify for full invoicing.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 2 years experience officiating youth sports or demonstrated knowledge of rules and gameplay of the specific sport
  • Experience working with youth in recreational or educational settings preferred
  • Pass and identification items:
    Base passes IAW DAFFARS , Contractor Access to the three Joint Base San Antonio installations at time of the proposal submission and must maintain the level of security required for the life of the agreement
