General Labor, Material Handler
Summary
This position provides support to operations by being responsible for verifying and keeping records of incoming and outgoing shipments, and may prepare materials for shipment. This position will also be responsible for loading, unloading and moving materials within or near the plant, yard or work site.
Responsibilities- Follows all EHS rules and regulations
- Safely loads and unloads materials onto form pallets, trays, racks and shelves
- Compares identifying information and counts of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records
- Records receipt of incoming materials and equipment
- Ensures materials are separated and stored in the appropriate locations or bins
- Documents and enters inventory information into the computer system
- Reads and interprets work orders in order to ascertain which materials to pull
- Moves materials from storage location to work site in accordance with the work order
- Performs cycle counting and physical inventories
- Uses steel cutters, crowbar, claw hammer or other hand tools to open containers

Minimum Qualifications- Experience in forklift operations
- Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships and teamwork
- Ability to operate equipment used in handling of materials
- Ability to follow oral and written instruction
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, steel toed boots, goggles, ear plugs, gloves
- Proficient in computer software applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook
- Ability to communicate and collaborate professionally, both verbally and in writing, at all levels
- Ability to organize and prioritize projects and information with accuracy, under tight time frames, to meet organizational needs
- Materials or warehouse experience
- Two + years’ work experience as a material handler in an industrial setting
- Proficient with the American Association of Railroads (AAR) and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) industry and customer requirements
