Position Description

This position reports to the Regional Director of Financial Aid and provides administrative support to the Financial Aid Office at all three campuses. The Financial Aid Officer is responsible for providing excellent customer service to prospective and active students. The officer will evaluate and determine student eligibility for federal and state aid programs, and award Title IV assuring compliance with federal, state and institution requirements.

Regular reliable attendance required.

Essential Functions
  • Adhere to the highest standards of compliance in performing all aspects of financial aid.
  • Explains the financial aid process and walks students through the packaging process.
  • Complete verification process if student is selected by the DOE.
  • Resolve conflicting data to ensure proper packaging.
  • Exercise professional judgment to authorize changes in the financial aid EFC.
  • Scheduling and timely processing of year 2 financial aid packaging.
  • Assist borrowers with entrance counseling and exit counseling.
  • Assist student with retail installment contract (RIC) options.
  • Collects student monthly payments and registration payments.
  • Participate in assigned training and meetings.
  • Provide training to new Financial Aid Staff on site and/or other Summit Campuses, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
  • Education:

    Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience:

    A minimum of 1 year experience in Financial Aid. NASFAA Certifications a plus. Knowledge of financial aid programs, need analysis, policies and procedures and automated student information systems. Experience with proprietary institutions preferred. Must possess strong customer service skills and be detailed oriented. Must be able to perform work with high levels of accuracy and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.

    Must qualify to work in the NSDLS database and maintain eligibility as an essential function for this position.
