Summary Description

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Machine Operator is responsible for providing the customer with the highest quality product in an efficient and cost-effective manner. The Machine Operator monitors and operates machinery on the production lines to comply with established standard operating practices for each customer.

Essential Job Functions
  • Adhere to health and safety policies/procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and wear required PPE in warehouse or production areas (hairnets/beard nets, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, gloves, etc.).
  • Adhere to food quality and food safety standards per corporate, customer, and governing bodies (e.g., SQF).
  • Read, understand, and adhere to a production schedule and communicate issues or deviations to appropriate parties.
  • Maintain production flow by monitoring upstream/downstream issues, supplying raw materials, and performing minor servicing as needed.
  • Follow Quality Assurance and Production SOPs; perform equipment changeovers and read imperial/metric measurements.
  • Record necessary information for production and quality records; maintain downtime reports and documentation.
  • Perform equipment and general sanitation in work area as assigned; support cross-functional teams to improve quality, efficiency, and reduce waste.
  • Understand visual and auditory cues to identify production or machine issues; perform minor machine maintenance.
  • Perform other duties assigned by leadership including cross-training, sanitation, inventory management, and training.
Required Skills
  • Experience in a high-speed beverage production environment; beverage production experience preferred.
  • Ability to understand production machinery/forklifts and technical issues; work quickly and accurately under pressure.
  • Adept at basic mathematical abilities; skill in interpreting gauges, thermometers, and weight measurements.
  • Formal training in WHIMIS, HACCP, Hygiene, etc. preferred; forklift certification may be required.

  • Problem-Solving: troubleshoot machinery and production issues; collaborate to resolve complex issues.
  • Teamwork: collaborate to achieve targets and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Documentation: accurate production data recording and organized records; ensure safety compliance.
  • Communication: clear verbal and written communication with team members and supervisors; follow downtime escalation process.
Education and Experience
  • High School Certification or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of relevant manufacturing experience preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Schedule:

    Weekdays, weekends, afternoons, evenings, overnights and holidays; overtime as needed.
  • Environment:
    Fast-paced production plant with moving parts; noise requiring hearing protection; temperatures may be hot or cold; structured with targets and schedules.
  • Travel: 0% travel anticipated.
Physical Requirements
  • R = Rarely, O = Occasionally, F = Frequently (table defines).
  • Stand, Walk, Push/Pull, Climb, and Drive (Forklift) frequently; stoop/kneel/crouch/crawl rarely to occasionally; lifting requirements up to 50 lbs as needed.

Visual/Sensory: attention to detail;
Coordination and Dexterity: precise control of equipment;
Mental Stress: deadlines and production quotas.
