About the OpportunityUnder the general supervision of the Telecommunications Systems Operations Supervisor (TSOS I), the Telecommunications Systems Technician II (TST II) is responsible for responding to and resolving public safety communications problems for State Agency clients. The TST II will also functionally report to the assigned shop lead as required. The duties are performed by following FCC rules and regulations, utilizing at a minimum, office-provided training, complex test equipment, computers, hand tools, the Telecommunications Division Manual (TDM), and technical literature.
Incumbent will communicate effectively on all written and verbal interactions, frequently interfacing with customers and co-workers to resolve issues and collaborate. The TST II will maintain a professional and team-centered environment by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. Incumbent will work proficiently with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Outlook, and Excel. Travel to and working in remote locations, high elevations, and inclement weather conditions may be required.

Desirable Qualifications- Ability to interface and interact with customers and co-workers in a professional manner.

In Office: This position supports and manages the day-to-day business operations for Cal OES which is handled in an office location. This is not considered a hybrid telework position.
DMV Pull Program: Participation in the DMV Pull Program is required. The position(s) require(s) a valid California Driver’s License (CDL). In the event of an emergency, employees may be contacted and requested to report to work in the event of an emergency. This contact may be outside of your normal working hours (evenings/nights, weekends, and holidays). This service may require irregular work hours, work locations other than the official duty location, and may include duties other than those specified in your official position description.
Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and you may be required to relocate to emergency sites.
