Job Duties (Training Facilitator (Driver))
  • Deliver training program to groups up to 45 potential election workers
  • Assist in the preparation of training materials
  • Evaluate and score potential election workers
  • Provide customer service to election workers
  • Perform routine clerical tasks, as needed
  • Provide transportation to and from training classes for the training team throughout San Bernardino County utilizing County vehicles
About the Department

The mission of the San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters is to conduct the County’s elections in a fair, accessible, secure, transparent, and efficient manner, upholding the highest level of election standards and accuracy, while always providing excellent customer service to both our team and the diverse population we serve. The Registrar of Voters performs all voter registration functions, including the storage and maintenance of voter registration records;

and provides voting-related services to voters, elected officials, campaign groups, and other voting interests. The Registrar of Voters also conducts an extensive community outreach and education program making speakers available to community groups and organizations. Conducting elections is both exciting and challenging. Attention to detail is critical and working as a team is vital to accomplishing successful elections. Permanent staff, temporary staff, and volunteers assist in the variety of complex tasks required to conduct elections.

Conditions of Employment

Pre-Employment Process: Job offered candidates must pass a background investigation, which includes a fingerprint check, physical examination, and County driver's clearance prior to employment start date.

Physical: Incumbents must be able to lift up to 50-70 lbs.

Travel/Driver’s License: A valid California Class C Driver’s License is required to carry out the essential job-related functions of this position. Proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained. Mileage reimbursement may be available.

Election Workdays: Election Workers are required to work all shifts necessary to support polling place operations. Shifts may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, County Holidays, and required overtime with short notice.

Pre- & Post-Election Workdays (for applicable roles/assignments): Shifts may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and required overtime with short notice.

Overtime

Hours:

During peak election periods, staff is required to work a significant amount of overtime. Overtime can include evenings, weekends (both Saturdays and Sundays), County Holidays, and early morning/late night hours with short notice.

Sponsorship: Please note that San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future. Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently
  • Available to work the mandatory shifts to support polling place operations

  • Possess strong public speaking experience
  • Quickly learn, retain, and apply information and procedures
  • Work independently while effectively following established instructions and guidelines
  • Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Utilize available resources to identify solutions and resolve issues independently
  • Consistently adhere to policies, procedures, and election guidelines
  • Maintain a professional appearance at all times
