Job SummaryThe Special Education Para educator assists the assigned Special Education teacher(s) and/or general education classroom with students with disabilities in caring for their learning, physical and/or behavioral needs under the direct supervision of the assigned teacher(s) and the Director of Special Education.
Responsibilities- Support students with disabilities in classroom activities and individualized education program (IEP) goals.
- Assist with the implementation of accommodations and modifications.
- Monitor student behavior and provide positive reinforcement.
- Collaborate with teachers to prepare instructional materials.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records.
- Education equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade or greater.
- Must pass a basic skills test, or have completion of at least two years of study at a post‑secondary institution, or possess an associate’s degree or higher.
5 Days per week – 6 hours per day (8:00 am – 2:30 pm, Monday to Friday) with a 30‑minute unpaid duty-free lunch break. 185 work days per year.
