Quality Engineer position at Cel Link Corporation Position Overview
The Quality Engineer will play a hands‑on, high‑impact role at Cel Link, splitting time between supplier quality management and the development of advanced metrology and automated inspection systems. This role is critical to ensuring the quality and reliability of raw materials, components, and finished products used in high‑performance applications.
Responsibilities- Work with suppliers for raw material and component qualification per customer requirements.
- Evaluate field reliability of all NPI programs and conduct testing to identify field failure risks.
- Define production quality flow for each NPI program prior to high‑volume manufacturing transfer.
- Ensure complete technology transfer to high‑volume manufacturing for successful volume ramp.
- Develop robust incoming material checks for vendor supplies to maintain ongoing quality.
- Perform supplier site audits (virtual and in‑person) to ensure best quality processes and develop improvised quality systems where gaps exist.
- Develop, deploy, and maintain inspection networks on state‑of‑the‑art camera‑based vision inspection systems.
- Execute qualification plans to verify and validate inspection network accuracy and precision.
- Provide timely and accurate project status, documentation, and training.
- Support in‑line and end‑of‑line inspection and functional test activities.
- Perform gauge capability, GR&R (MSA), tool matching, and measurement uncertainty studies for metrology equipment.
- Collaborate with engineers from different teams on continuous improvement, solving metrology and yield problems, and improving overall product quality.
- Maintain documentation required by customer, regulatory, and system‑level requirements.
- Lead failure analysis, root‑cause analysis, and field exposure risk analysis for failures.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.
- Experience managing supplier quality.
- Minimum 2 years hands‑on experience with machine vision systems in PCB, consumer electronics, automotive, or similar field.
- Independent problem solver with a desire to learn new skills and develop new technology.
- Strong organizational and detail‑oriented mindset.
- Ability to adapt to changing requirements in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Experience developing AI and deep‑learning–based machine vision metrology applications.
- Experience in inspecting parts/samples or training others for inspection.
- Knowledge of quality disciplines (8D, APQP, Six Sigma).
- Expertise in metrology development and fundamentals of gauge and process capability.
- High‑volume manufacturing experience.
- Strong communication skills across audiences.
- Self‑starter, adaptable, and comfortable wearing multiple hats.
Work in office and manufacturing environments; may require lifting up to 50 lbs, manual dexterity, and standard safety procedures. Personal protective equipment may be required.
Compensation & BenefitsBase pay range $75,000 – $125,000 USD (San Carlos, CA). Benefits include medical, dental, and optional stock‑option plan. Cel Link is an equal‑opportunity employer and participates in the E‑Verify program where required.
