We’re looking for a Project Accountant who will bring accuracy, ownership, and collaboration to the financial administration of our construction projects.

About the role

The Project Accountant manages the financial administration of assigned projects from setup through closeout. Working closely with Project Managers, Operations, subcontractors, vendors, and the Accounting team, this person supports accurate billing, timely payments, reliable financial reporting, and healthy project cash flow.

What you’ll do
  • Prepare and submit owner billings, AIA pay applications, and lender draw packages.
  • Track accounts receivable and support collection efforts, cash application, and timely project funding.
  • Process subcontractor pay applications and coordinate vendor and subcontractor compliance documentation.
  • Set up projects and budgets in Procore and Sage, and maintain accurate job cost reporting and cost-code allocation.
  • Track purchase requests, purchase orders, invoices, subcontract commitments, and change orders.
  • Review project budgets, forecasts, cost-to-complete projections, and budget-to-actual results.
  • Identify and communicate potential cost overruns, financial risks, discrepancies, and other issues.
  • Prepare project financial reports, reconciliations, and variance analyses.
What you’ll bring
  • Five or more years of general contracting commercial construction accounting experience
  • Knowledge of AIA billing, pay applications, subcontractor requisitions, retainage, change orders, lien waivers, construction job costing, and forecasting.
  • Experience preparing owner billings and lender draw packages.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
  • Experience with Procore, Sage, or similar construction and accounting systems.
  • Strong organization, follow-through, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across teams and with external partners.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred; equivalent construction accounting experience will also be considered.
What we offer

The salary range is $ to $125,000 annually (commensurate with experience) and bonus potential. In addition to salary, see the following:

  • People First - A collaborative, people-focused culture committed to career growth and long-term success
  • Paid Vacation – You can accrue up to 3 weeks (120 hours) of paid vacation time in a year (& accrue an additional 40 hours, if unused).
