Swift Engineering is seeking a seasoned Airframe Structural Analyst with knowledge and experience in Solid Mechanics. Tools may include but are not limited to CATIA, 3DX, PATRAN, NASTRAN, and ANSYS. Typically performs multiple engineering-related tasks in various assignments within the organization. Oversees the design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems. Has broad knowledge of engineering procedures and assists in the resolution of complex problems.
May guide and train less experienced engineers. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Swift Engineering is uniquely positioned in the marketplace to provide both Product Development and Manufacturing products and services, specializing in advanced composites. This position will be at the forefront of current and future products and play a major role in the development of products and innovative structural designs.

Pay Range
: $130,000-$140,000 Annually
- Perform static, modal, fatigue, and/or damage tolerance stress analysis in support of new designs and modifications to existing designs in support of airframe structures
- Verify structural integrity using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) as well as classical aircraft stress analysis methods
- Utilize approved analytical methods, including Classical Laminate Theory, to verify and validate analysis results in accordance with requirements
- Develop and interpret data from industry standards and civil/military handbooks to assess material systems, specifications, and failure modes
- Create and review structural analysis strength check notes, result summary presentations, and reports
- Generate trade studies to optimize structure and meet program requirements
- Work within team to integrate component-level structural models and perform integrated analysis, using finite element methods, free-body diagrams, and closed form analytical methods to develop internal loads and stresses to verify structural integrity
- Develop substantiation documentation to demonstrate compliance to related airworthiness requirements
- Derive loads from internal loads models, interfaces, joints, and contacts
- Develop load paths for aircraft primary and secondary structure
- Perform weight and/or stiffness optimization
- Define and review analytical methods for structural verification
- Perform aeroelastic stability and flutter analysis
- Evaluate CFD results and identify critical load cases
- Perform drag decrement calculations to assess aerodynamic impacts on structural performance
- Collaborate with other engineering functions, and subject matter experts on system level details including assembly and subassembly requirements
- Support product and project estimation
- Support proposal writing
- Interface with customer
Professional Requirements:
- B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or other degrees and experiences that are deemed equivalent
- 6+ years' experience in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, physics, or other related discipline with equivalent experience
- 3+ years' experience in structural analysis (FEA) within aerospace, military, automotive, medical, and/or commercial industries
- Experience performing structural analysis of large complex assemblies
- Experience with closed form mechanical engineering solution approaches
- Candidates must be US Person for compliance with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations)
- 3+ years' experience in aerospace structural analysis
- 3+ years' experience in aircraft design
- Knowledge of Airworthiness Certification process
- Proficiency in CAD (preferably Solid Works and/or CATIA/3DX)
- Experience with FAR 23/25 and/or FAR 27/29 loads analysis and development
- Experience performing Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
- M.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or other degrees and experiences that are deemed equivalent
- Skilled at evaluating complex composite structural behaviors including joints and fasteners
- Fundamental knowledge of composite structures and how to model them
- Detail-oriented and have the ability to work proactively and effectively in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Fundamental knowledge of mathematics and physics
