HR Generalist – Family Office
Location: San Clemente, CA Schedule: Full-Time, Onsite Compensation: $90,000 – $120,000 annually
Our client is a private family office in San Clemente seeking a skilled Human Resources Generalist to join their team. This is an onsite role that requires discretion, relationship-building, and operational excellence in a small, high-trust environment.
Base pay range: $90,000.00/yr - $/yr
Position OverviewThe HR Generalist will support the day-to-day people operations of a private family office, providing hands-on HR support across multiple affiliated entities. This role serves as a trusted internal resource for employees and leadership, managing core HR functions including onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, and HR operations.
Responsibilities- Human Resources Operations:
Manage onboarding and offboarding processes, including documentation, orientation, and systems setup; maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, and HR documentation; support day-to-day HR inquiries related to policies, benefits, and employment practices. - Employee Relations & Support:
Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions and concerns; assist leadership with employee relations matters, performance issues, and workplace concerns; foster a positive, respectful, and professional workplace culture. - Benefits & Payroll Support:
Administer employee benefits programs (health, dental, vision, retirement); coordinate with benefits brokers and payroll providers; assist with payroll processing, audits, and reconciliation as needed. - Compliance & Policy Management:
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws; maintain employee handbook and HR policies; support updates; assist with training related to compliance, safety, and workplace best practices; support hiring efforts including job postings, interview coordination, and offer documentation; partner with leadership for a smooth candidate experience. - HR Projects & Process Improvement:
Assist with HR-related projects, systems implementation, and process improvements; help develop scalable HR practices as the organization evolves.
- 1–5+ years of experience in an HR Generalist or similar HR role
- Experience supporting small organizations, family offices, or private companies preferred
- Strong knowledge of HR operations, employee relations, and employment compliance
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- High level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency with HRIS systems, payroll platforms, and Microsoft Office / Google Workspace
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Experience with California employment law
- Comfortable working in an onsite, relationship-driven environment
