Job DescriptionThe Assurance Senior will be responsible for coordinating the day‑to‑day “in‑charge” duties of planning, fieldwork, and wrap‑up, including preparing financial statements with disclosures. They will apply most areas of GAAP, document and validate controls, and serve as the client contact for basic questions. The role may also involve reviews and agreed‑upon procedure engagements.
Job Duties- Coordinate the day‑to‑day conduct of the audit plan and manage fieldwork within the prescribed timeframe and budget.
- Document, validate, and assess the design and operating effectiveness of the client’s internal control system.
- Communicate financial statement disclosure requirements, draft complex sets of financial statements with disclosures, and apply new accounting pronouncements as appropriate.
- Plan and execute Section 404 internal control audits and manage SEC filings review.
- Apply GAAS and professional standards, employing audit skepticism and determining testing scope.
- Utilize BDO audit manual and methodologies, including technology tools.
- Research accounting issues, document findings, and assist in developing audit engagement plans.
- Provide verbal and written performance feedback to audit associates and supervise staff assignments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics (or related field plus CPA certification).
- Master’s degree in Accountancy (preferred).
- Two or more years of audit experience in public accounting or related consulting services.
- Prior basic supervisory experience (preferred).
- Eligible to sit for the CPA exams upon hiring, actively pursuing completion.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and assurance applications (preferred).
- Solid understanding of GAAP, GAAS, SEC, PCAOB, and SOX; strong analytical, diagnostic, and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, work independently and collaboratively, and manage demanding deadlines.
- Project management skills and experience planning public or private company audits.
