Senior Cost Accountant – Manufacturing

CV Resources is partnering with a manufacturing client in San Diego in search for a Senior Cost Accountant to join their team.

• Maintain and analyze standard and actual product costs, including material, labor, and overhead components.
• Oversee inventory accounting for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods in accordance with GAAP.
• Ensure accurate BOM (Bill of Materials) and routing cost structures in the ERP system.
• Perform monthly inventory close, including reconciliations, variance analysis, and inventory roll‑forwards.
• Calculate, analyze, and explain PPV, labor, and overhead variances and partner with Operations to drive improvements.

• Manage labor and overhead cost allocation methodologies, including absorption costing and overhead rate updates.
• Review and maintain standard costs, including annual cost roll‑ups and interim updates.
• Analyze manufacturing performance metrics including yield, scrap, rework, and efficiency.
• Support new product cost modeling, quoting, and margin analysis.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules related to inventory, COGS, and reserves.
• Support month‑end close and ensure accurate reporting of inventory and manufacturing costs.
• Maintain inventory reserves for excess and obsolete, slow‑moving, and scrap inventory.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and SOX (if applicable).

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong experience with inventory accounting, BOMs, standard costing, and variance analysis.
• Experience with labor and overhead absorption costing.
• Advanced Excel skills.
