The Senior Inventory Accountant at BELAY combines strong accounting expertise with specialized knowledge of inventory, cost accounting, and inventory management systems. This client-facing role is responsible for managing complex inventory accounting activities across multiple client accounts while providing clients with accurate financial information, practical guidance, and solutions that support their business operations.
Senior Inventory Accountants serve as a key accounting resource for inventory-driven businesses, working directly with clients to understand and improve inventory accounting processes, costing methodologies, system functionality, and financial reporting. They perform and oversee inventory reconciliations, cost accounting activities, month-end close processes, and inventory-related financial analysis while troubleshooting system integrations, data discrepancies, and process issues.
This role also supports inventory management system implementations and ongoing system maintenance, including data validation, system configuration, integrations, and client training. Senior Inventory Accountants identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, reporting, and automation and work collaboratively with clients, Accounting Managers, Controllers, and internal teams to implement effective solutions.
Senior Inventory Accountants are expected to lead through technical expertise, client partnership, accountability, sound judgment, and continuous improvement while delivering a consistent, high-quality client experience.

Client Service & Inventory Accounting- Serve as a primary client resource for inventory, cost accounting, COGS, inventory systems, and related accounting matters.
- Lead client discussions, explain complex accounting and system concepts, and provide practical recommendations.
- Manage recurring inventory accounting, including reconciliations, inventory adjustments, costing, COGS, and month-end close activities.
- Analyze inventory balances, standard and landed costs, gross margin, and variances to identify discrepancies and accounting issues.
- Investigate inventory variances and system discrepancies and determine appropriate accounting treatment in partnership with clients.
- Maintain accurate inventory and accounting records and ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and BELAY processes.
- Support implementation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of inventory management systems and related integrations.
- Prepare, map, validate, and migrate inventory data, including SKUs, costs, vendors, customers, and other system data.
- Troubleshoot system, sync, and integration issues across inventory, e-commerce, and accounting platforms.
- Test system functionality and accounting outputs to ensure transactions flow accurately between connected systems.
- Train clients on inventory systems, accounting processes, and best practices and maintain supporting documentation.
- Prepare and review financial statements and inventory-related reporting.
- Analyze COGS, gross margin, inventory turnover, and other relevant financial and operational KPIs.
- Help clients understand the financial impact of inventory, costing, purchasing, and operational decisions.
