Director of Accounting
About the RoleThe Director of Accounting is a key financial leader responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting function and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role provides strategic and operational leadership across the accounting organization, including financial reporting, month-end close, internal controls, tax compliance, audit support, and accounting systems.
The Director of Accounting will oversee the Controller and partner closely with the CFO and cross-functional leadership to strengthen accounting processes, improve financial visibility, enhance internal controls, and support the company’s continued growth. This role will also lead initiatives focused on process improvement, automation, systems optimization, and scalability across the accounting function.
The ideal candidate is a strong accounting leader who combines technical accounting expertise with a continuous-improvement mindset and the ability to build strong relationships across the organization.
Key Responsibilities Accounting Leadership & Financial Reporting- Lead and oversee the company’s accounting function, ensuring accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting.
- Provide leadership and oversight of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Review and approve financial statements, account reconciliations, management reports, and supporting schedules for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Establish, maintain, and continuously improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Ensure the quality, integrity, and auditability of all accounting and financial reporting.
- Identify accounting risks and provide practical recommendations to the CFO and senior leadership.
- Evaluate complex and technical accounting matters and ensure appropriate accounting treatment in accordance with GAAP.
- Oversee sales and use tax processes, including compliance, filings, reconciliations, and coordination with internal teams and external tax partners.
- Support income tax compliance and provision activities by coordinating information, reviewing schedules, and partnering with external tax advisors, with primary ownership maintained by the CFO.
- Coordinate and support external audits, including preparation and review of schedules, documentation, and supporting materials.
- Maintain strong relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial partners.
- Ensure accounting practices and processes remain compliant with applicable regulations and company policies.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives across accounting operations, financial reporting, close processes, and internal controls.
- Identify process gaps, inefficiencies, and control risks and implement sustainable solutions.
- Drive automation and process improvements designed to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Oversee the optimization and enhancement of financial systems, including Net Suite and Workday Adaptive Planning.
- Partner with technology and business teams on system enhancements, integrations, automation, and reporting improvements.
- Develop and maintain standardized accounting processes, documentation, and controls across the organization.
