Billing Specialist

36 hours per week;
Monday - Thursday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm and Friday, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm

• Prepare, review, and submit accurate billing using electronic and paper processing within contracted timelines for multiple health plans.
• Follow up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe.
• Check each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with contract. Research and appeal denied claims.
• Follow up with insurance companies regarding any discrepancy in payments if necessary.
• Ensure that information about members served, enrollment, disenrollment, eligibility information, outcome data, billing, and other pertinent information is entered accurately into EHR(s) and other documentation platforms within specified time limits.
• Verify monthly service provision requirements are met for payment throughout the month.

Our Central office is in the Mission Bay area. We provide management support services for all of the mental health programs of Community Research Foundation and PERT, Inc. High School/GED diploma with 1+ year of experience with data review, medical billing, health care administration and/or referrals required.

• Experience using Electronic Health Record systems required
• Professional verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in billing processes
• Able to demonstrate intermediate level computer skills, specifically with MS Office and Excel.
• Able to learn new software and applications
• Able to pass criminal/background clearance

This position performs a variety of administrative duties including but not limited to billing, data entry, reporting and tracking information for program management. Ensures timely and accurate data entry, performs data validation and quality control checks, creates and generates reports, and performs analysis and reconciliation of data. Tracks data related to outcome measures to monitor program compliance. Completes billing as assigned.
