RoleFOX 5 San Diego/KUSI News duopoly is seeking a Reporter for our broadcast and digital platforms. The successful applicant will have a proven ability to enterprise stories that connect with audiences across all devices and platforms. A typical day could involve general assignment reporting with live shots or returning to station to host/produce live streaming news programs.
Responsibilities- Accurate and balanced reporting of news stories following company standards for journalistic integrity and quality
- Contribute daily to our digital platforms by writing web articles or producing/hosting programs for our CTV streaming app
- Be creative with how to present stories to engage today’s audiences, tailoring content for different devices and platforms
- Collaborate with photographer, producer, assignment desk on live shots as needed
- Attend editorial meetings and regularly pitch original story ideas
- Set up, write, and package to meet deadlines daily
- Develop community contacts and a network of news sources
- Attend station partnerships in community
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communication, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and work‑related experience
- Video editing and live streaming experience preferred
- Must interact positively and productively with colleagues and the public
- Uphold station values and model professionalism on and off the air
- Exceptional writing, grammar, and spelling
- Excellent communication skills with ability to ad‑lib at length when required
- Strong on‑air presentation – must be credible, personable and engaging
- Flexible with schedule and willing to work additional hours or days or different shifts and holidays as required by news content
- Strong attention to detail
- Must be able to accept constructive direction and feedback
- Compensation starting at $31/hour, commensurate with experience and skill level.
