Family Physician 0.25-1.0 FTE – Norway House Hospital

Hourly Range: $237.32

On-call stipend, Meal per Diem and Additional Hours

Description:

Norway House Cree Nation: 812 kilometers north of Winnipeg

Population:
Over 8,000

Physicians deploy from Winnipeg to community sites through chartered aircraft, Monday through Friday on rotational time frames.

Year‑round road access, approximately 9 hours’ drive each way. The Norway House Ferry is used to cross the Nelson Channel.

In‑province travel and accommodations covered by organization.

Possibly to travel with your family with 8 weeks’ notice; family travel expenses is the responsibility of the contractor.

Out‑of‑province travel paid with physicians holding 0.25 FTE (5–7 days monthly) or higher.

Out‑of‑province travel paid for locum providers with a commitment of 2 consecutive weeks (12 days).

Qualifications:
  • Must hold licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba, or be eligible for licensure.
  • Current membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
Certifications:
  • Must have current Advanced Life Support (ACLS)
  • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) (within 6 months of hire)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (within 6 months of hire)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) (within 6 months of hire)
  • Indigenous cultural awareness course (within 6 months of hire)
  • Manitoba Opioid Antagonist Therapy (OAT) course or equivalent is encouraged
Skills/Abilities
  • Strong health assessment and clinical skills are required
  • Excellent leadership, critical thinking and collaborative interpersonal skills
  • Must be self‑motivated and able to work independently, working as a member of a health care team alongside extended practice nurses, paramedics and other allied professionals
  • Must demonstrate an appreciation of Indigenous worldviews, cultures and be sensitive in providing anti‑racist, trauma‑informed care.
  • Must be able to prioritize, manage time effectively and be flexible.
  • Must possess a dependable, consistent and reliable work record, including attendance at work.
Compensation

Compensation is remunerated as per Doctors Manitoba

Northern Independent Contractor GP Agreement April 1 2023 - March 31 2027.
