Overview
The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Newborn Medicine, is seeking a pediatric hospitalist to provide patient care on the Newborn Service at UC San Diego Health Jacobs Medical Center. Jacobs Medical Center is a 364-bed facility on the UC San Diego Health campus in La Jolla. The Newborn Service includes a 52-bed level III NICU and a team of UC San Diego faculty pediatricians, pediatric hospitalists, and neonatal nurse practitioners.
The role supports direct patient care on the Newborn Service and may involve supervision of nurse practitioners, residents, and medical students, trainee education, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, quality improvement projects, and participation in division/section activities. Further opportunities may include positions in the Academic General Pediatrics section in outpatient clinics, with the possibility of a future increase in FTE.
- Provide direct patient care on the Newborn Service at Jacobs Medical Center, including supervision of trainees and collaboration with the NICU team as needed.
- Engage in trainee education and participate in quality improvement projects and departmental meetings.
- Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams and participate in division/section correspondence as required.
- Board certified pediatrician with a minimum of 2 years of experience in general pediatrics.
- Prior experience caring for newborns during birth hospitalization, stabilizing ill infants, and neonatal resuscitation.
- Must be able to obtain UCSD Medical Staff privileges, including holding a current California Medical License without probation or restrictions.
- Must be able to work various hours and shifts, including 2 weekends per month and several holidays, per the Medical Center’s needs.
Hiring Pay Scale: $175,000 - $185,000 / Year. Appointment Type:
