Are you ready to take on a pivotal leadership role in Internal Medicine? The VA San Diego Healthcare System is on the lookout for an experienced physician to step into the role of Chief of Medicine . This is your chance to make a significant impact while working closely with the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine .

As the Chief of Medicine, you will:

• Oversee clinical operations and administrative functions within Internal Medicine and its subspecialties.
• Manage a dedicated team of physicians and administrative staff.
• Collaborate with UCSD School of Medicine to enhance program development.
• Engage in teaching, research, and strategic health system initiatives.
• Lead performance improvement initiatives aligned with VASDHS and Medicine Service goals.
• Serve as the primary liaison with UCSD to foster interdepartmental partnerships.

To thrive in this role, you should have:

• U.S. Citizenship
• Unrestricted U.S. Medical License
• Successful completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited fellowship in your specialty.
• Board Certification in your specialty.
• At least 3 years of supervisory experience.
• A record of academic accomplishments suitable for an associate or full professor rank.

• Prior VA Experience
• 5 years of supervisory experience
• Experience in administering programs, clinical operations, teaching, and research.

Your schedule will be Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, excluding Federal Government holidays. Please note that this position is not eligible for telework or hybrid work.

• Compensation: $325,000 - $400,000 based on your training, specialty, experience, and local labor market.
