Responsibilities
- Create a positive member experience by welcoming participants and ensuring active engagement.
- Provide a safe workout routine through proper form demonstration, technique guidance, and cueing.
- Maintain a clean and safe workout area.
- Utilize scheduled class time efficiently.
- Set up and break down class equipment within the allotted timeframe.
- Build community by forming positive relationships, learning members’ names, and helping them reach their health and wellness goals.
- Adhere to YMCA core functions and exemplify Y Group Exercise Class Guidelines.
- Communicate verbally to both large and small groups of members.
- Demonstrate physical ability to lead and participate in exercise/fitness activities.
- Respond to critical situations with visual and auditory awareness and act swiftly in emergencies.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum age of 18 years or older.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with members of all levels and abilities.
- Certification in CPR/AED and First Aid (Adult, Child/Infant) within 30 days of hire, from an accredited organization (American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or American Safety & Health Institute).
- Completion of all required job training within 90 days of hire.
- Compliance with YMCA fingerprinting and background check requirements prior to reporting to work.
- Dance experience is preferred.
- Qualified applicants with a criminal history may be considered pursuant to the San Diego County Fair Chance Ordinance and California Fair Chance Act. Disclosure and background check occur only after a conditional job offer is made.
Pay Range
USD $19.69 - USD $23.63 per hour.
