Position Details

Salary placement contingent upon receipt of official transcripts and verifications of prior work experience. Instructors with advanced coursework or experience may be placed on appropriate class and step on the Adjunct College Salary Schedules effective the first month following receipt of documentation. Initial salary placement will be at the first class/step until all required documentation has been submitted.

Responsibilities
  • Primary duties of adjunct faculty members are related to curriculum and teaching; the assignment is divided between lecture and lab classes as determined by the department. Adjunct instructional faculty are required to be available to students outside of class.
  • Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
  • Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
  • Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
  • Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
  • Teach all scheduled classes.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Provide quality instruction, create and maintain an environment which emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas, interests and issues.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Political Science

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Master's in political science, government, or international relations AND at least two upper division or graduate courses in American Politics, Public Policy, and/or Public Administration; OR
    • Bachelor's in any of above AND Master's in economics, history, public administration, social science, sociology, ethnic studies, Juris Doctor (JD) or Legum Baccalaureus (LL.B.) AND at least two upper division or graduate courses in American Politics, Public Policy, and/or Public Administration; OR
    • The equivalent.
  • Management

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Master's in business administration, business management, business education, marketing, public administration, or finance AND at least two upper division or graduate courses in American Politics, Public Policy, and/or Public Administration; OR
    • Bachelor's in any of above AND Master's in economics, accountancy, taxation or law AND at least two upper division or graduate courses in American Politics, Public Policy, and/or Public Administration; OR
    • The equivalent.
Desired Qualifications
  • California Community College Instructor Credential in Government (Theory and Practice, Local and International) (valid for life).
Foreign Degree Evaluation

Applicants with foreign degrees must have coursework evaluated by a professional association that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or the Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute, INC. (ACEI). A copy of the evaluation must be submitted with the application.

Licenses / Credentials

California Community College Instructor Credential in Government (Theory and Practice, Local and International) (valid for life).

Submit official college transcripts, a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam (renewed every 4 years), Live Scan fingerprint clearance, and proof of eligibility to work in the United States. Newly hired faculty must also submit official transcripts and the TB exam. You may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor.
