Position Description

Join San Diego State University’s Center for Inclusive Excellence as a Student Engagement and Inclusive Programs Assistant and help create a more inclusive, connected, and welcoming campus community. This dynamic, fast-paced, student-facing role supports programs that promote inclusive leadership, allyship, community building, and meaningful learning while recognizing and building on the strengths, perspectives, and lived experiences of a diverse student population.

Bring inclusive programming to life in support of equity and students from historically marginalized communities. This position facilitates learning activities, mentors student leaders, coordinates events, develops educational materials, connects students with campus resources, and collaborates with campus partners to foster belonging, leadership development, and meaningful student engagement. Through this work, help students draw on their strengths, identities, knowledge, and experiences as assets in shaping a more inclusive campus community.

• Support the creation and delivery of inclusive leadership awareness trainings, workshops, learning environments, allyship initiatives, orientation activities, and student engagement programs.
• Facilitate routine presentations and learning activities that encourage reflection, dialogue, leadership development, and community connection.
• Support the recruitment, onboarding, program guidance, and developmental support of Diversity Peer Educators, Inclusive Ambassador Interns, and other student employees.
• Collaborate and attend meetings with campus diversity partners in efforts to foster cross-departmental collaborations
• Create and update outreach materials, including presentations, flyers, newsletters, website content, social media, and other promotional resources.
• Coordinate program logistics, including: schedules, attendance records, workshop requests, event materials, purchasing documents, student employment paperwork, and internship requirements.
• Collect and summarize participation and program information to support reporting, assessment, and ongoing program improvement.

• Contribute to meaningful work that promotes equity, challenges discrimination, and supports students in developing the self‑awareness and leadership skills needed to create a more inclusive future.
• Join a collaborative office culture committed to developing inclusive practices at San Diego State University.
• Build collaboration, awareness, and professional connections across the Division of Student Affairs and Campus Diversity through collaboration with Residential Education, Fraternity & Sorority Life, New Student Orientation, the Glazer Center for Leadership and Service, and campus Community Centers.
• Gain hands‑on experience in student affairs, student life, diversity education, identity education, leadership development, program coordination, and workshop facilitation.
