Overview

Technical Standards – RISC-V Certification position at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. The role involves representing Qualcomm in standardization forums, collaborating with internal and external partners to evolve industry standards, and developing Qualcomm’s strategy for semiconductor standards. The candidate will work with attorneys to file patents that protect novel IP aspects of inventions and will focus on RISC-V ISA, processor architecture, microarchitecture, and related standards knowledge.

Experience with processor core and system compliance certification, modeling and verification is required; system firmware and kernel knowledge is highly desirable, with legacy architecture knowledge as a plus. Additional consideration may be given to candidates with physical design and government affairs experience.

Responsibilities

The key responsibilities include:

  • Understand semiconductor industry landscapes and competitive strengths/weaknesses
  • Identify existing and emerging standards for Qualcomm to focus on
  • Collaborate with external partners to develop and promote standards
  • Formulate, maintain and execute Qualcomm’s strategy for semiconductor standards
  • Work with attorneys to file patents protecting novel IP aspects
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • 10+ years ASIC design, verification, or related work experience
  • Strong networking and influencing skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of semiconductor technologies and international semiconductor landscapes
  • Semiconductor development experience (architecture, design, implementation, verification, validation, manufacturing, silicon qualification, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Electronic Design Automation (EDA)
  • Understanding open-source licensing models and ecosystems
  • Familiarity with Qualcomm technologies (a plus)
  • Experience or network in research and academic communities
  • Strong documentation, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • 2+ years managing operating budgets and/or project financials
  • 3+ years of senior leadership interaction
  • 4+ years in a technical leadership role
  • 5+ years with semiconductor standards organizations and forums (e.g., RISC-V, JEDEC, UEFI, Accellera, Si2, SEMI, OCP, ISO/IEC, IEEE, INCITS, GSA, SIA, IMEC, SRC)
  • 8+ years in system design, modeling, or testing
Education & Experience

Education Requirements: Required:
Master’s in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering;
Preferred:
Doctorate in the same fields
