Assistant Consultant, Ports and Marine Engineering
Join WSP in the U.S. as an Assistant Consultant, Ports and Marine Engineering. This position can be based out of Irvine-CA, San Diego-CA, or Portland-OR.
Job Description
Provides engineering support to other technical staff, engineers, and project managers for the development, design, construction, and inspection of structures and facilities for port, marine, and intermodal rail terminal projects in the public and private sector.
Your Impact
- Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data for project development, design, and construction.
- Assist with the development of project design requirements, incorporating marine-practice engineering standards and specifications.
- Assist with identification of project site, design, and construction-related risks and provide input on mitigation activities.
- Write technical reports, generating complete and concise documentation of findings.
- Prepare presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to internal and external team members and clients.
- Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work.
- Participate in site visits and inspections to gain practical insights into maritime construction processes.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct.
- Complete all assigned trainings.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- 0 to 1 year of experience.
- Prior engineering internship experiences.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, engineering software, and tools.
- Experience with AutoCAD and SAP
2000. - Proven track record of upholding workplace safety.
- Occasional travel may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 to 3 years of relevant post-education experience with exposure to ports and marine structures.
- EIT Certification.
- Experience with REVIT and MathCAD.
- A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.
- Familiarity with marine and coastal engineering principles, practices, and regulations.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements.

Compensation
Expected Salary: $56,300 - $92,900.
