Position: Procurement Buyer I

Job Description

CAES by Honeywell is seeking a full‑time Buyer I/II for our San Diego location. This role involves collaborating across multiple departments, planning, scheduling, and monitoring the movement of materials through the production cycle to determine required material purchases. The scope includes obtaining materials using engineering and production schedules to maintain inventory at planned levels such as just‑in‑time purchases and use of economic order quantities.

Responsibilities include resolving discrepancies, ensuring material standards are met, gathering quotations, examining bids, making award decisions, evaluating supplier reliability, and developing new supply sources where competition does not currently exist. The position requires building positive relationships with key suppliers to improve quality, costs, service, and preserve Department of Defense (DOD) certification.

  • Review material requirements and place purchase orders to support production schedules.
  • Source suppliers, obtain quotes, and ensure timely and cost‑effective procurement of materials.
  • Monitor ERP signals and requisitions; flag and elevate potential production delays.
  • Track and expedite open orders, resolving issues related to delivery, quality, or invoicing.
  • Maintain accurate supplier and pricing information in ERP.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and suppliers to ensure supply chain continuity.
  • Participate in daily team meetings and provide material status updates as needed.
  • Support safety and continuous improvement efforts within the department.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree.
  • 4+ years of purchasing experience, including a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading cost‑savings initiatives.
  • Experience leading or mentoring Lean initiatives.
  • Intermediate Excel proficiency, including familiarity with pivot tables.
  • Access permission under U.S. export laws (i.e., a U.S. Person).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Knowledge of SAP.
  • Strong proficiency with Lean manufacturing methodologies and practices.
  • CPM, CPIM, or ISM certifications.
  • Aerospace, defense, or automotive industry purchasing, operations, or supply‑chain experience.
  • Strong analytical, time‑management, and communication skills for a matrix environment.
  • Experience negotiating and solving within the electronics industry to build strong relationships internally and with customers.
  • Experience dealing with the NPI process.
Salary

The annual base salary range for this position is $55,800 – $69,700. This figure serves as a general guideline;
Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including scope and responsibilities, experience, education, and market conditions.
