Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer - Metrology

You will be part of the Global Engineering team within Operations, tasked with end‑to‑end technical oversight of our manufacturing technologies spanning suppliers, contract manufacturers, automation houses, and internal manufacturing. You will bring expertise and passion for the development, qualification, validation and change management of complex manufacturing automation equipment.
Where You Come In- Lead metrology technical effort working with Design Engineering, Operations and Quality to develop new manufacturing process inspections and inspection equipment in a regulated environment.
- Design test setups for scaling and production‑level test procedures for various NPI transfer programs.
- Define, design, develop metrology solutions including hardware engineering, test software implementation and instrument qualification. Oversee contract metrology labs.
- Collect and perform statistical analysis on metrology data to correlate to performance metrics.
- Participate in manufacturing process and equipment qualification validation plans and protocols.
- Develop instrument level alignment, compensation and measurement performance tests.
- Explore novel optical metrology technologies and prototype development with suppliers.
- Provide guidance and training to test lab associates, plant operators and engineers on test methods and results analysis.
- Identify appropriate analytical tools and equipment required to meet goals from concept to implementation.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field;
Master’s preferred. - Experience developing metrology for high‑volume manufacturing in a medical device company.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to prioritize and provide direction.
- Strong background in product design lifecycle and technical transfer to manufacturing.
- Proven ability to work hands‑on in a fast‑paced environment with competing priorities.
- Detail oriented with strong time‑management skills.

- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline and a minimum of 13+ years related experience, or a Master’s degree and 8+ years equivalent industry experience, or a PhD and 5+ years of experience.
