Facilities Systems Engineer – Bio Legend
Bio Legend, a global provider of health science solutions, is looking for a highly motivated Facilities Systems Engineer to join our team. As a hands‑on technical expert, you will support multiple operational areas, primarily focusing on warehouse automation systems while also maintaining laboratory equipment, manufacturing systems, and other critical facility infrastructure.
Job SummaryYou will report to the Facilities Manager and be responsible for ensuring optimal performance of automated storage, conveyance, and picking systems. Your role will involve preventive maintenance, vendor coordination, quality management, troubleshooting, and project management across our labs and facility.
Essential Functions- Monitor system performance of conveyor systems, robotic pickers, sorting equipment, laboratory instrumentation, and other technical systems.
- Schedule preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Coordinate with OEM technicians for specialized repairs and upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards, GMP requirements, and internal quality protocols; maintain audit documentation and investigate non‑conformances.
- Manage spare parts inventory, establish reorder points, and track usage to maintain critical components.
- Perform mechanical, electrical, and controls troubleshooting to resolve non‑routine issues.
- Support PLC programming, HMI interfaces, and integration with warehouse management software.
- Provide hands‑on support for lab equipment installation, validation, troubleshooting, and repair; coordinate with contractors and vendors for campus improvements.
- Oversee maintenance tasks and projects executed by facility associates.
- Lead project management for various Facilities and Operations related projects beyond warehouse automation.
- Collaborate with warehouse, manufacturing, laboratory, and quality teams to align technical systems with organizational objectives.
- Handle additional projects or responsibilities as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline with 3 years of experience in repair and maintenance of automated order fulfillment systems; or a high school/GED degree with 10 years of highly relevant experience.
- 3 years of hands‑on electromechanical experience, including repairs, component replacement, preventive maintenance, and operational testing.
- 5 years of experience operating and maintaining automated warehouse systems.
- 4 years of facilities experience in the biotech industry or lab equipment maintenance.
- 2 years of experience using a robust and auditable maintenance system, including record keeping and non‑conformance investigation.
- 2 years of formal education or equivalent training in system operating software and inventory interface.
- Intermediate to expert understanding of mechanical, electrical, and control systems with associated troubleshooting skills.
- Intimate familiarity with warehouse automation components such as PLCs, sensors, actuators, encoders, scanners, conveyor systems, gear motors, HMI, fault logic, and electronic operating modules.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey technical information accurately and succinctly.
- Demonstrated ability to train and guide Facilities and Order Fulfillment team members.
- Broad knowledge of conveyor systems and related elements.

Work Environment & Physical Demands- Regular office work with occasional exposure to laboratory and warehouse environments.
- Hands and fingers are used to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls; frequent standing, talking, and hearing required.
- Occasional data entry on a computer.
Base salary range: $84,000 – $94,000. This range reflects the target for a new hire and may be adjusted based on internal equity, location, and other factors.
